Managed transportation
A shipper with twenty to two hundred loads a month and nobody whose whole job is freight hands the desk to us. We source and vet the carriers, tender from your routing guide, track every load, audit every carrier invoice against the rate confirmation, and send one consolidated invoice and a scorecard a month. The fee is a percentage of managed spend with a monthly minimum, and the contract lanes we run ourselves are priced at the same published rates as anyone else's.
What is included
- Routing guide built from your lanes, volumes and service requirements, with primary and backup carriers per lane
- Carrier sourcing and vetting against the compliance standard on this site, re-vetted every twelve months
- Tendering, appointment scheduling and tracking on every load, with exception alerts to your team
- Freight audit: every carrier invoice checked against the rate confirmation and accessorial rules before it is paid
- One consolidated weekly or monthly invoice with the audit savings called out
- Claims filed and managed on your behalf under the Carmack Amendment and the carrier contracts
- Monthly scorecard: on-time pickup and delivery, tender acceptance, cost per mile by lane, claims, audit savings
- Quarterly review with the lane rates rebid where the market has moved
Questions about managed transportation
What does managed spend mean?
The freight charges on the loads we tender, track and audit for you in the month, whether on our trucks or another carrier's. The fee is 9% of that total, with a $1,250 monthly minimum. Freight on our own trucks is at published rates; we do not double-charge.
Do we lose our carriers?
No. Carriers you want to keep go into the routing guide once they pass the vetting standard, and we tender to them first on their lanes.
What systems do you use?
The portal on this site, with EDI or API to your ERP where you have one. You keep access to all of it, and the data is exported to you if we part ways.
